A Valentine’s Day Debrief

February 10, 2020 By Barry

For a small book, 1 John packs a big punch, especially on the subject of love. It’s one of the smallest books in the Bible but ranks second in number of references to “love,” second only to Song of Solomon.  By far, 1 John ranks number one per capita (number of references to love versus number of verses in the book). It’s also noteworthy that 1 John was one of the last New Testament letters written. You can hear God saying “This is what it boils down to.”

So, we’ve created a cool tool to use to not only debrief with your students on their Valentine’s Day experiences (in other words, this is for AFTER Valentine’s Day) but to explore a key passage that teaches us how to react to God’s love. By cool tool, we mean this: a brief but high-impact engagement experience with a bite-sized chunk of God’s Word. In this case, it’s a passage out of 1 John 4.
