InWord’s 2016 Resolution to You!

January 6, 2016 By Barry

2016 Resolution SLIDER
With a fresh year in front of us, I wanted to take a moment to communicate our resolve regarding InWord’s online presence and e-newsletter experience. We’re passionate about youth ministries and churches experiencing the transformative power of God’s Word. Please take a quick scroll through the items below to see the new things you can expect. We’re making some improvements and we can’t wait to get 2016 started!

More Voices

InWord has collected a great team of writers over the years with awesome things to say regarding teens and Bible engagement, and, about things in general. You’ll be hearing more from them. Plus, you can expect to hear from today’s leading youth ministry authors and practitioners on the subject of Bible engagement.

Humor

We can always stand to laugh more and smile more. We’ll be adding some humor to the newsletter, just because. It may or may not have anything to do with Bible study.

More Headline Relevance

World-renowned theologian Karl Barth once said, “The Pastor and the Faithful should not deceive themselves into thinking that they are a religious society, which has to do with certain themes; they live in the world. We still need – according to my old formulation – the Bible and the Newspaper.” You may have heard the popular adage, adapted in part from Barth’s quote: “Prepare a sermon with the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other.” Of course today the adage might be “Prepare a sermon with the Bible on your laptop and Twitter on your phone.” The point, of course, is the same: God’s Word speaks truth to today’s times. We want our e-newsletter to reflect that.

Moving to Tuesday

Our internal structure made it so that Wednesday was the best day to send our e-newsletter. That’s also the busiest days for most youth workers, not a good day for checking the inbox. So, we’re changing aforementioned internal structure to make Tuesday our target e-newsletter day.

Resources for Planning Ahead

Even if you’re planner-challenged, it doesn’t do you much good to get a Valentine’s Day devo in your inbox on February 13 or a Palm Sunday devo on Palm Saturday. To facilitate good planning, expect to receive calendar-oriented resources (free exercises, featured resources, video devos, etc.) at least four weeks before the pertinent calendar date (Valentine’s Day, Easter, spring break missions trips, etc.).

Continued Commitment

Along with the above improvements you can expect to continue to receive encouraging and thought-provoking blog posts, freshly created teen devos, relevant featured resources, free Bible study exercises, poignant Scripture video retreats and much more. We are passionate about creating as many access points as possible into the life-changing presence of God and His Word.
