Leap Day Overflow

February 9, 2016 By Barry

LeapDay2016forPost

It’s always helpful to gain that extra hour when we switch from daylight-saving time to standard time in the fall. But this month we get to gain an extra day! Have you thought about how you might use that day?

Unfortunately Leap Day falls on a Monday, as if we all need an extra Monday in our lives. This also means that much of our extra day will be like any normal work day. But outside of our normal Monday duties, is there a way we can take advantage of the upcoming February 29?

If I might make a suggestion. We are at our best when we are ministering out of the overflow from our relationship with God. We are at our best as a family member, as a friend, as a discipler of teens or in any other ministry capacity. Why not use your upcoming extra day to jump-start, or make a “leap” forward, in generating overflow from your solitude time with God? Plan to block out more time with God than usual on February 29, and if you have a flexible schedule or can take a personal day, try to make it a significant chunk of time.

There is more to come on this subject. Next week expect to see ideas for making a personal leap along with a teen devo just for 2/29/2016.
